Nursing home asks US Supreme Court to intervene

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) -- A New Jersey nursing home company has asked U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg to overturn an appeals court's order rejecting a delay in reinstating striking Connecticut workers.

HealthBridge Management said Monday that a federal court's Jan. 25 decision striking down three appointees by President Barack Obama to the National Labor Relations Board calls into question the labor board's decisions.

A federal judge in Hartford in December approved an injunction requested by the labor board ordering the Parsippany, N.J.-based company to reinstate 600 striking workers at five nursing homes. A federal appeals court in New York last week rejected HealthBridge's request to delay that order.

A spokeswoman for District 1199 of the New England Health Care Employees Union didn't immediately return a call seeking comment.
