COPENHAGEN, Denmark (AP) -Denmark's football association has suspended a second-division player for six months, saying he placed bets on a cup match involving his own team.
FC Vestsjaelland defender Kristoffer Wichmann denied the allegations and said he would appeal the decision.
The Danish FA's disciplinary committee on Monday said Wichmann had violated rules designed to prevent match-fixing by placing bets through intermediaries on a Danish cup match in 2011 in which he came on as a second-half substitute.
The association said it's also considering filing a criminal complaint.
