Admitted: Conventional cancer treatments sterilize women

(NaturalNews) Most American women who find out they have cancer are confronted by their doctors with three choices for treatment, which include surgery, chemotherapy and radiation, all of which greatly increase the chance they will never again be able to procreate. Yet, rarely does any doctor offer those women the fourth choice of treatment, which does not endanger their fertility whatsoever, and does not even require taking medication.

The latest study finds that very few women with cancer take steps to preserve their fertility while undergoing dangerous and toxic cancer therapy, and what's worse, many women are discriminated against as doctors don't even suggest they review the steps that can be taken to possibly preserve their fertility and prevent ovarian failure. Cancer, a peer-reviewed journal of the American Cancer Society (one of the biggest scam organizations further endangering women's lives), revealed research after interviewing over 100,000 U.S. women, under the age of 50, who were diagnosed with cancer. The only fertility advice/choices given to a "select" few of these women was regarding egg or embryo freezing as a (slim) chance for future conception.

To find out which women received this limited advice and were not discriminated against for age, race or social status, Mitchell Rosen, MD of University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), led a team that surveyed over 1,000 women between the ages of 18 and 40 years who were diagnosed with either leukemia, Hodgkin's, breast cancer or gastrointestinal cancer. The women were randomly sampled from 1993 until 2007. Over 900 of them were treated with therapies that could make them infertile forever, including chemo, pelvic radiation, pelvic surgery, or bone marrow transplants. Only 60 percent received counseling about infertility, and less than 10 percent pursued preservation.

The study revealed that women who are Caucasian and graduated from college are more likely to be counseled about the risks of infertility and the choices for preservation. One "reason" for the bias was that "socio-demographic health disparities likely affect access to fertility preservation services."

Of course, since the FDA (Food and Drug Administration), the CDC (Center for Disease Control), the AMA (American Medical Association), and the ACS (American Cancer Society) are in the business of making a fortune off of women with cancer, Allopathic doctors under this "chronic care" umbrella are not educated about nor instructed to give advice to women regarding natural remedies for cancer.

Survey gets a grip on dark energy

Astronomers have measured the precise distance to over a quarter of a million galaxies to gain new insights into a key period in cosmic history.

The 3D map of the sky allows scientists to probe the time six billion years ago when dark energy became the dominant influence on the Universe's expansion.

No-one knows the true nature of this repulsive force, but the exquisite data in the international BOSS survey will help test various theories.

The analysis appears in six papers.

These have all been posted on the arXiv preprint server.

"This is an incredibly exciting time to be working in cosmology, and we're all privileged to be part of the Baryon Oscillation Spectroscopic Survey (BOSS)," said Prof Will Percival from the University of Portsmouth - a UK member of the international research group.

"What we've done is measure the 3D positions for just over 250,000 galaxies, covering the largest volume of the Universe ever surveyed. That gives us an amazing map that we can then analyse to try to understand how and why the Universe's expansion is accelerating," he told BBC News.

Prof Percival was speaking here in Manchester at the UK National Astronomy Meeting (NAM).

Preferred separation

The discovery that everything in the cosmos is moving apart at a faster and faster rate was one of the major breakthroughs of the 20th Century.

It went against all preconceptions. Up until the discovery, it was thought the Universe's expansion would most likely have been decelerating under the influence of gravity.

Scientists now find themselves grasping for new physics to try to explain what is going on.

BOSS is intended to support that effort.

It uses two techniques to understand the acceleration.

One concerns so-called baryon acoustic oscillations. These are pressure-driven waves that passed through the very early Universe and which were imprinted on the distribution of matter once conditions had cooled below a certain point.

Today, these "wiggles" show themselves as a preferred scale in the separation of galaxies and can be used as a kind of standard ruler to measure the geometry of the cosmos.

"Because you can trace this pattern all the way through the Universe, it tells you a lot about its content," explained Portsmouth's Dr Rita Tojeiro.

"If it had a different content - it had more matter, or it had less matter, or it had been expanding at a different rate - then you'd see a different map of the galaxies. So, the fundamental observation is this map."

Einstein 'right'

The other technique being used by BOSS involves "redshift space distortions". These describe the component in the velocity of galaxies that stems from the growth of structure in the Universe. The team can see if neighbouring galaxies are clustering in the way that would be expected from the action of gravity.

"What we find is everything is very consistent with Einstein's theory of general relativity, coupled with the cosmological constant that he put into his equations. He put it in originally to make the Universe static, and then took it out.

"But if we put constant in with the opposite sign, we can get acceleration. And if we do that, we find equations that are perfectly consistent with what we're seeing."

The quality of the BOSS map is big step forward on all previous such surveys.

It provides details on the position of galaxies out to some six billion light-years from Earth and gives those measurements to within 1.7% of their expected true value.

This is particularly significant in the context of understanding dark energy because six billion years ago is the period when the repulsive force becomes the dominant action in driving the expansion of the Universe, and gravity takes a back seat.

Space mission

The BOSS project, which acquires all its data using the 2.5m Sloan telescope at Apache Point Observatory in New Mexico, is only a third complete and will continue to map the 3D positions of galaxies.

"We use these measurements to test a whole bunch of theories to try to understand dark energy a little bit better," Dr Tojeiro told BBC News.

"The better your measurement, the more discriminant power you have between those competing theories. And if we can get an even greater volume of galaxies then we can start to perform new and different tests."

The European Space Agency is also planning to take the BOSS approach into orbit with its Euclid mission, which should launch towards the end of the decade. Portsmouth researchers will be playing key roles in the space mission, also.

Euclid will measure the precise positions of 50 million galaxies out to some 10 billion light-years from Earth.

This means it will witness the full evolution of dark energy's influence on the expansion, from minimal relevance at the earliest epoch to its overriding control in modern times.

'My side of the story is on the record,' MC tells 'RapFix Live' of his multimillion-dollar tax woes.

If you want to know Nas' take on his multimillion-dollar tax woes, then you'll have to buy his new album. In February, TMZ reported that Queensbridge MC owes more than $6 million in back taxes, and now the Internal Revenue Service plans to garnish wages earned from his music publishing until things are even Steven.

Ever the wordsmith, Nas got creative with his "no comment" comment when he appeared on "RapFix Live" on Wednesday. "My side of the story is on the record and I speak about it on the record," he said of how he plans to address his tax troubles on his upcoming Life Is Good LP.

Speaking of his 10th solo album, God's Son told Sway that the LP's title is evolving. "The record is starting to take on a whole different new thing and it's just bigger than Life Is Good now," he explained. "Yeah, life is good, but there's so much information I think that's important that I get out there that I think the title is becoming bigger."

And if the album's first two singles are any indication, Life is Good is anything but happy-go-lucky. "Nasty," the LP's first single, which the rapper released in 2011, is a sonic throwback to the gritty, New York-style rap of the 1990s. Nas' latest single, "The Don," is also reminiscent of a different era of rap. The Heavy D and Salaam Remi-produced track samples reggae star Super Cat and finds Nas rapping about his days hustling in the street and his hip-hop beginnings.

Nas hasn't announced a release date for Life is Good yet, but it's hard to imagine that he'd have anything nice to say toward Uncle Sam.

My Thoughts:??? I grew up with the Muppet?s and love them.? I was super excited when the movie came out? and my daughter?s and I made a plan to see it.? I didn?t know too much about it and had no idea there was so much music in it and the first time Jason Seeal broke out into dance I laughed my head off ? it was great.? We loved the concept of the entire movie and we laughed all through the movie.

Then we received the Blu-ray DVD Combo pack with all the bonus features and enjoyed it even more.? Our favorite part was the blooper real.? I always enjoy some good bloopers but this was even better because it was the Muppet?s.? I mean ? people are making them do those bloopers so it just made it that much more entertaining.??? We also enjoyed the screen test on the way to the read through.??? That in itself was a little movie short.

Proponents of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, a.k.a. ObamaCare, say it's unprecedented because it's never been this necessary.

Opponents contend it's because the authority doesn't exist, and argue it must be struck down by the high court on grounds of unconstitutionality.

The Supreme Court justices will be looking at three significant constitutional areas to determine whether the Affordable Care Act (ACA) is lawful:

The Commerce Clause
The Necessary and Proper Clause
The federal government's taxing power

The most prominent of these is the Commerce Clause, which gives the government power to regulate commercial activity among the 50 states.

Both sides are using the Court's precedents on Commerce Clause cases to bolster their arguments, but in many ways, the conflict is one of perspective.

In short, the justices must weigh the problems uninsured people and the high costs of insurance for those who have it as a matter of vital importance to the country's future, determining the scope of the federal government's power at the same time.

The Benefits of A Self-Enhanced View of You:New Findings ...

Do you think you have an inflated sense of self?

Do you have positive illusions about the way you compare with others, make decisions, control your circumstances?

While this enhanced self-perception may not, particularly in the extreme, cause you to win friends and influence people ? it may actually serve you well in buffering stress and coping with adversity.

A recent study by Gupta and Bonanno gathered longitudinal data to examine the relationship between self-enhancement and adjustment of college students to potentially traumatic events over their four years. It is the only study to date using on-going reactions instead of post trauma retrospective reports.

The researchers used Paulhus? ? Self-Deceptive Enhancement Scale? to measure self-enhancement. As such, the issue of whether biased perceptions of self could promote mental health coping was put in the forefront because this scale measured unrealistic or overly positive self-perceptions in 20 self-descriptive statements like, ? I am very confident in my judgments,? ? I always know why I like things,? ?My first impressions of people usually turn out to be right.?
The 101 student participants completed the ? Self-Deceptive Enhancement Scale? as well as other self-report measures of distress and social desirability a month after they began college and four years later.
Every week over the course of the four years, with the exception of a retrospective view of the summer, participants filled in an on-line questionnaire to report if they had experienced a potentially traumatic event (i.e. death of someone close, divorce of parents, serious illness etc.) and if so, the degree of distress it caused from 0 to 4.

The findings are interesting and significant.

Most student participants experienced a mean of 4.4 potentially traumatic events over the course of the four years.
For those students with low self-enhancement scores, the increase from low to high potentially traumatic events resulted in a significant positive increase in fourth-year distress.
For those students who scored high on self-enhancement scores, there was no significant increase in distress in the fourth year, even when they also experienced an increase from low to high potentially traumatic events ? and even in face of the events they reported to be most stressful ? suicide, serious injury or illness.
The evidence demonstrates that self-enhancement serves as a buffer against the harmful impact and distress of trauma.

?Why Does A Self-Enhanced View of Self Serve As A Buffer In The Face Of Traumatic Events?

As the researchers suggest, when someone has experienced highly aversive and threatening events, their sense of self, judgment, mastery and control has been assaulted. As Boulanger suggests, they have been ? wounded by reality.? Coping and recovery necessitate dealing with a sense of helplessness to recover a more positive view of self.

It would seem that a positive, self-enhanced view of self, while biased and not strictly defined by reality, may make it easier to re-frame, re-define and re-instate a self who can manage and cope despite obstacles or changes in life?s parameters.

The Power of Positive Thinking and Illusions After Trauma

On a personal note what this study offers us is further validation of the power of the positive in healing in the aftermath of trauma. It underscores the merit of believing in ourselves to make possible what seems impossible to bear.

The Taylor Brown Positive Illusions Formulation ? This is a workable formulation for applying a positive perspective to life?s uncharted paths. Taylor and Brown propose and find in their research that when not reflecting a maladaptive extreme- Positive Illusions About Self, Illusions of Control and Unrealistic Optimism are associated with mental health and coping in the face of trauma and aversive events.

Positive Illusions: Most of us have them. For example, studies show that most people rate themselves ?better than average? in driving, leadership, and athletic abilities, teaching ability etc.? Such illusions carry with them a sense of psychological well-being. They help us find a way not to sweat the small stuff and to find a way to manage the big stuff.

It is to the advantage of the accident patient to feel ? I am healing better than most.? ? I will be back to driving quicker than the doctor expected.? ? I am a smart patient ? I understand what I have to do.?

Illusions of Control: Most people believe that they can control more than they actually can in life. What is important and relevant to improved coping is that people do switch their control related beliefs as life and the unexpected intrude. For example, the cancer patient switches from survival or complete cure to control of symptoms and life tasks.

It the belief that you can still make a difference ? still exert control that is positive and health promoting. Whether it is to re-define a way to work or to plan to race with a prosthesis ? in new domains control continues and is associated with good adjustment.

Unrealistic Optimism: Perhaps what makes optimism such a gift is that it is not grounded in reality. Studies suggest that most people anticipate that their future will be brighter than can be reasonably justified statistically. That?s the importance of optimism ? it is about hope and possibilities.

Ob/Gyn Visit a Good Time to Screen for Heart Disease: Study

MONDAY, March 26 (HealthDay News) ? Women should be screened for heart disease ? a leading cause of death among women in the United States ? during routine visits to obstetrics and gynecology clinics, a new study suggests.

Researchers from Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City found that heart screenings performed during visits to obstetrician/gynecologists could help identify women with undetected risk factors for the condition. In addition, the screenings could significantly increase awareness among women about heart disease prevention and treatment, the researchers added.

?There is a real disparity in the medical community where we tend to think heart disease is a disease of men, and historically we have not done a very good job of screening women for cardiovascular risk factors,? the study?s principal investigator, Dr. Roxana Mehran, director of interventional cardiovascular research and clinical trials at Mount Sinai Medical Center, said in a news release from the American College of Cardiology.

CHICAGO ? Pregnancy increases the risk of a fatal heart attack, a new study shows, even in apparently healthy women who don?t have the normal risk factors for heart disease.

Heart attacks during pregnancy ? while rare ? prove fatal for about seven per cent of women who have them, a rate about three times higher than what doctors would expect in non-pregnant women of the same age, says Uri Elkayam, lead author of a study presented here at the annual meeting of the American College of Cardiology.

Heart attacks affect about one in every 16,000 deliveries, occurring mostly in the last three months of pregnancy or first few weeks after delivery, says Elkayam, a professor of medicine and obstetrics-gynecology at the University of Southern California.

Heart attacks during and just after pregnancy have different origins than typical heart attacks, an issue that can make them harder to treat, says Elkayam, who has completed three studie????? continues on Winnipeg Free Press
