Stay or sell? It's a question many people are debating after their homes suffered significant damage during the tornadoes.
KOCO's Katy Blakey spoke to a local Realtor about the possible options.
Mark Ely spends his days off repairing his home following the May 20 tornado.
He and his family have now survived three devastating tornadoes in the past 15 years.
"I like this area of town," said Ely. "It's where I live. It's home. It's hard to leave."
Ely has decided to stay put, but many of his neighbors are weighing their options. Stay or sell their property?
"I think most of them are going to move out and I can't blame them."
Aggressive advertising in tornado-damaged areas target the big question before homeowners. Signs promising quick cash for damaged homes and lots. And buyers have gone door-to-door offering pay outs.
"It's definitely a sellers market," said Keith Taggart, President of the OKC Metropolitan Association of Realtors.
He said property appraisals in tornado damaged areas may be inconsistent and suggests homeowners wait a few months until the market stabilizes.
